Seeing if I can get back into the swing of me...

So trying to regain some of who I miss from before the big D. It's been almost a decade and I am a MUCH stronger and independent person now. I have missed my fiber arts so I'm picking up the needles and spindles again. To be honest, I am horrible writer-so may be lucky if I write again in under a year!

Twenty million years later...

Okay, so I've been busy as usual. Here's one of the big reasons why...

Her name is Sprocket and is blending into our family just wonderfully- but she is a puppy and has developed a taste for wool...
I have also FINISHED my hourglass sweater- even worn it a few times- no pics yet as I have not yet managed to get a picture of me in it that does not look totally bizarre...

Here is my "She's like a Rainbow " roving- singles.

Here is it is all plied and washed- ready to go...
Top is Andean plied- about 350 yds, fingering weight, bottom is navajo plied same roving- about 370 yds- fingering weight. Enjoy!

Tour de Fleece

Get up off the floor- I know- two posts in one month- really I need to warn people! Okay, so, um I signed up for the tour de fleece! With my ADD this should be interesting. I am really excited since I have a new (to me) wheel coming any day now! Anyway here are some samples of what I hope to COMPLETE during the Tour.

The June posting

Okay, apparently I am much better at reading blogs then writing them- it's just faster to read them. I've been busy with Little League, Soccer, and trying to reclaim our new yard from five years of neglect! I finally made it to Knit night this week- YAY! One of the ladies asked me how tired I was- a little but not bad, but I must have looked tired. I went home and on a thought I weighed myself (something I generally avoid)- I've lost almost 20lbs in the past month- the last time I was at this weight it was between #2 and #3 kid! Since I haven't been to Knit night in the past month- I'm sure my face looked a bit thinner since that's where weight loss shows up first! Don't worry I eat plenty- it's just all the heavy duty yard work- at least 3 hours a day every day. Here are some before and after of our yard- we've done everything ourselves including the wall!

In knitting news- I'm still working on the hourglass sweater- mostly during sports practice/warm ups- it's up to the armpits plus one sleeve with half of the second sleeve done. I might actually get this done before Little League finishes this summer! Sorry no pics- maybe later next week- then I can post the July post earlier in the month =p

Finished Project!!

WooHOO!! I finished an actual PAIR of socks!! Even more amazing, I have not (yet) cast on for another pair so I can move on to finish another pair! These are Wendy's Southwestern socks (freebie at Looopy Ewe)made from Boomerang yarn (Australia). I love this yarn, it is just so squishable! I have some in my stash to hopefully make a whole sweater.

My new favorite project!

Just to prove I am still alive! I'm working on the hourglass sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts- I love the loud obnoxious colors! My favorite happy coincidence is that the yarn matches my knitpicks needles! Check it out!

I'm Back! Progress Pics

First up is the lovely pair of sheep slippers my hubby got me for Christmas! I LOVE them! My feet are always cold and I would just dig around for an extra pair of socks in the morning- now I just jump out of bed, right into the slippers!!

This is my January selection of fiber from Traveling Rhinos (on etsy). I signed up for the whole year after doing a three month trial membership. I love every package I get- batts + roving + embellishments =fiber bliss!!!

Here is one of my youngest socks- he saw this yarn and followed me around the house until I cast on a sock for him- it's Baby Boom in Sedona. I only have one skein so I hope it's enought for socks (he's only 4 so it might be okay)

The next two are my spinning. These are the Carbon colorway for Sheep to Shoe- about five of the eight ounces- 375yds sport weight. I navajo plied it to keep the colors together- I'm very proud of the evenness of the twist etc.- it almost looks too normal though! (Someone commented that it looked like it was commercially spun- am I wierd that I didn't take that as a great compliment??)

I hope to be posting a little more regularly now that the holidays are behind me and I'm more organized (BAWAHHAHAHAHAHA!!)
